Focusing on the priorities of the European Commission and the fundamental values of the European Union, the Region of Thessaly – Managing Authority, in collaboration with “Eleftheria” newspaper are organizing the 2nd European Sustainable Development Forum, from Saturday the 25th until Sunday the 26th of January 2020, in Larissa.
The Conference organized in the framework of the European Entrepreneurial Region Award 2019, received by the Region of Thessaly approaches sustainable development through an integrated framework of themes on the strengthening of the economy, innovation, science, employment and social progress, as well as the environmental protection.
In more detail, the sections and lectures of the conference are oriented on the following axes:

- Sustainable rural development – Climate change – Circular economy
- Regional development in Europe – The region of Thessaly in 2030
- Industry -Innovation – Investment – Development – Justice.

The conference seeks to identify new investment and productive trends as well as the challenges created for the four prefectures of Thessaly and transform them into viable strategic plans aimed at enhancing the attractiveness, competitiveness and extraversion, for the benefit of the people and the Greek economy.
The opening of the conference will be announced by the European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas on Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm. During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Konstantinos Tsiaras, will deliver a welcoming address as the representative of the President of the Greek Government. Greek and foreign policy figures, academics, scientists, diplomats, representatives of organizations, institutions and businessmen have been invited to the conference to discuss issues related to the development of Thessaly.
